Nature of Work

The student will gain experience working in an office environment and enhancing their organizational skills. He or she will have an opportunity to engage with alumni and donors of the university that could expand his or her professional network as well as developing their customer service skill set. Additionally, the student will learn processes to assist the offices with event marketing through social media and other channels.
- Assist with alumni event preparation and promotion
- Development of online event registrations and email marketing to alumni
- Update alumni records in Raiser’s Edge database
- Provide customer service to alumni through answering calls and emails in the alumni account
- Assist with management of social media for the department
- Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite including, but not limited to, basic word processing skills, knowledge of spreadsheet functions, and the ability to complete mail merges. A thorough understanding of social media a plus. Polite, courteous, organized, follows instructions, and seeks to better the office of Alumni Relations.

Some evening and weekend work may be required. Schedule will adjust per week as needed to accommodate this. Travel may be asked of this person depending on the event location. However, travel expense reimbursement will occur based on state and university policy.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior office experience would be highly preferred. Experience promoting events via social media and other channels a plus.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

Event preparation does require this person to move and pick up event supplies less than 50 pounds.

Required Qualifications

Must be a current University of West Georgia student enrolled for six credit hours and maintaining at least a 2.0 cumulative grade-point average unless otherwise noted/indicated by the hiring department.
