Nature of Work

This position will be responsible for duties and routine administrative functions that are sometimes confidential. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: reception, administrative and clerical support; dealing with The Foundation’s many public organizations; supporting the Chairman of Board of Directors and the Board and nonprofit agencies that are affiliated with the Foundation.

Students in this position will: contact non-profits to obtain current service information, update West Georgia Resource Network with current service information, assist with writing, posting, scheduling, and reporting Facebook updates, assist in planning, writing, and managing social media communications, design flyers, graphics, e-vites, and other marketing materials, assist in organizing databases, assist with daily office tasks, and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

This position is part of the West Community Student Engagement Program (WCSE) that employs students off campus in order to earn their federal work-study (FWS) award.

Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA, FWS eligibility, and transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

No experience necessary, but computer proficiency required including Windows, Microsoft Office Suite of products and working with social media. Working with ETapestry (Blackbaud), and QuickBooks is a plus. If not proficient, must be willing to learn and expand knowledge base.

Student Assistant II positions perform above-average duties of a complex nature requiring prior knowledge, skill, or training. Student Assistant II positions may be physically demanding and the work may be performed under difficult conditions. Students in these positions most often work with little to no supervision. This classification may be used while training for a higher level. This position does require the candidate to have Federal Work Study.

Required Qualifications

Must be a current University of West Georgia student enrolled for six credit hours and maintaining at least a 2.0 cumulative grade-point average unless otherwise noted/indicated by the hiring department.
