Nature of Work

Works closely with Program Manager. Supports the planning and execution of social media plan. Create visually-compelling designs. Write stories and press releases. Work on project assignments using good design principles and typography. Work under guidelines created by University of Communications and Marketing (UCM). Organize photo shoots and help update brochures and newsletters. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Must have strong written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating excellent grammar with the ability to write, edit and proof press releases and other documents
• Must have Graphic Design Experience (InDesign, Adobe Creative Suite, other) and show evidence of work
• Must have strong computer skills (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
• Minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA required and have Senior status or Graduate Student
• Must be available to work 20 hours per week, which may include occasional evenings
• Consistent attendance is a job requirement

Preferred Qualifications

• Photography skills are a plus
• Preferred major/minor: Marketing or Mass Comm / English

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

Ability to move about office freely, communicate without restriction, and lift up to 25 pounds.

Student Assistant II positions perform above-average duties of a complex nature requiring prior knowledge, skill, or training. Student Assistant II positions may be physically demanding and the work may be performed under difficult conditions. Students in these positions most often work with little to no supervision. This classification may be used while training for a higher level.

Required Qualifications

Must be a current University of West Georgia student enrolled for six credit hours and maintaining at least a 2.0 cumulative grade-point average unless otherwise noted/indicated by the hiring department.
