Nature of Work

Senior leader will:
• assist the workshop coordinator and superleader(s) in all tasks related to the selection and training of new leaders
• prepare of all leaders for each week’s workshop by conducting leaders’ meetings on a weekly basis and making sure summary quizzes are prepared
• confer with the workshop coordinator and superleaders on a regular basis
• work toward making workshop an ever-better experience for chemistry students
• serve as the leader of at least one weekly workshop
• convey enthusiasm for chemistry and for the workshop experience to the students
• be punctual in attending scheduled staff meetings, leaders’ meetings, and the meetings of their own workshop(s).
• Keep accurate report records of each workshop meeting as well as grade summary sheets and homework for all students enrolled in the workshop session.
• Check email, text, and phone messages regularly.
• Perform any additional duties specified by the professor

Required Qualifications

• At least two semesters of prior chemistry workshop leadership experience

• Be committed to the workshop program
• Maintain high ethical and professional standards.
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills to work cooperatively.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

Ability to maintain focus for 1.5-2 hour duration of meetings

Student Assistant II positions perform above-average duties of a complex nature requiring prior knowledge, skill, or training. Student Assistant II positions may be physically demanding and the work may be performed under difficult conditions. Students in these positions most often work with little to no supervision. This classification may be used while training for a higher level.

Required Qualifications

Must be a current University of West Georgia student enrolled for six credit hours and maintaining at least a 2.0 cumulative grade-point average unless otherwise noted/indicated by the hiring department.
