Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Student Life and Dean of Students, the Director of Career Services provides innovative and strategic leadership, program development, and administration of a centralized, comprehensive career center serving all undergraduate and graduate students. This position serves as a key member of the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management leadership team, supporting the division’s values and goals and the university’s mission and strategic plan. The Director assumes responsibility for the efficient and effective operation of Career Development, Employer Relations, Experiential Learning and Student Employment. The Director will cultivate a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and integrating best practices; benchmarking services against peer and aspirant institutions; introducing creative approaches and solutions to the design and delivery of programs and services; maximizing available technology for data management, marketing and communication; and actively supporting ongoing professional development and collaborations across staff and functional responsibilities.

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree; 5 years of progressively responsible experience in Career Services or similar experience in career development in a business environment; minimum 3 years of supervising staff and building partnerships; proven ability to develop long range planning and budget administration; extensive knowledge of career development and student development; strong written and oral communication skills; proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office and Symplicity or other CSM systems)

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, human resources or a closely related field; minimum 7 years of progressively responsible experience in a college or university career center; experience working with student employment or financial aid; demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations; ability to use both data and judgment in decision making; excellent interpersonal skills especially those in the areas of collaboration, conflict resolution, problem solving and decision-making; strong organization and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and constituents; ability to work well without close supervision.

Salary minimum $66,276 - midpoint $94,764
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

Must be able to travel to satellite campuses, off campus employer sites, attend professional development opportunities and other relevant events. Must possess the willingness and ability to work an unconventional work schedule that may include evenings and weekends to meet the needs of our students and employer partners. Must be able to negotiate stairs and capable of lifting 10-15 pounds.
